Description:   At particular times God has gifted His special power, the Holy Spirit, to selected individuals to use in specific and often miraculous ways to further His purpose. The Old Testament records many cases of men “full of the spirit” particularly by prophesying future events. The message of Jesus and his disciples was verified by miracles. Once the New Testament had been written, the purpose of the gifts of the Holy Spirit was completed and the gifts withdrawn.
