An ancient Israelite was a citizen of the Kingdom of God. As such they were obligated to ensure that they and their nation lived godly lives. Unlike them, as Christians we are not citizens of the countries in which we live. A Christian cannot be involved in this world because they are just passing through on their way to God’s kingdom. A Christian’s job is to be an ambassador for Christ upholding his values and not this world’s.
