The Jewish Revolt (66 73ce) Part 1

‘The events of the Jewish Revolt against the might of the Roman Empire form the historical backdrop for the Gospels and Letters of New Testament. The holy city of Jerusalem was destroyed and the Temple was burnt to the ground. The remnants of the nation of Israel were exiled from the land by the year 135CE, leaving them to wander through countries at the mercy of foreign governments who were hostile to their cause. Jesus himself warns his disciples about the coming destruction on the city and the land, and history testifies to the veracity of his words. It is in our days that we see the times of the favor beginning to dawn on Zion, leaving Assyrian and Roman exile in the shadow of the past.’
