Their Grand Mufti turned to the Pope, who chose to join them as a means of getting a hold on Jerusalem. Israel has become a contested issue among the nations, the western nations are being drawn into the conflict in the Middle East. Israel is the fundamental foundation on which the Kingdom of God is to be built.
