The European Union’s most powerful leaders have snubbed David Cameron’s call for an end to ‘ever closer union’.

In a blow to the Prime Minister’s renegotiation of Britain’s membership, a meeting of leading EU figures including German chancellor Angela Merkel stressed the importance of the EU founding principle.

Mr Cameron pledged in the Tory general election manifesto that he would end the obligation to further integration, which has been a part of the EU treaties since 1957.

Mr Cameron pledged in the Tory general election manifesto that he would end the obligation to further integration, which has been a part of the EU treaties since 1957

But in a rebuff to Mr Cameron’s proposal, the congress of the European People’s Party (EPP) has re-committed to the ideal.

The party is the largest group in the European Parliament and its members include Mrs Merkel and the leaders of nine more of the 28 EU member states, European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker and European Council president Donald Tusk.

At a summit in Madrid attended by Mrs Merkel, Mr Juncker and Mr Tusk, the party adopted a resolution underlining their desire for a more integrated EU. ‘Integration is the foundational philosophy behind the EU,’ the motion stated. ‘We must unite citizens, integrate economies, remove borders and join forces in pursuit of common European well-being.’

The emphasis on the importance of the principle, which came in a motion about the EU’s relationship with Catalonia, makes it more difficult for Mr Cameron as he tries to win a British exemption.

Despite all David Cameron’s best efforts to keep Britain in the EU he will fail.  And this article highlights yet again the wide gap that exists between what Britain wants and what Germany and France want.  The Bible speaks of the EU as a “Beast” system, a reference to the ‘beastly nature’ of the mass of people of different nationalities all under the one common system.  So Bible Prophecy has predicted that the EU will be a ‘close union’ of countries just as Germany and France would like.  David Cameron and Britain are out of step with this idea and again we know from Bible Prophecy that they will not be a part of this system in the time of the end when Russia and Europe invade the Middle East and are destroyed by Christ’s intervention.

Yes, despite all the politicising by the various parties and politicians, Britain will keep moving in the direction of leaving the EU which is now assured under the conservatives who as Cameron has said will implement their manifesto to the fullest!

So yet again we see the hand of God at work in the nations to ensure that His purpose unfolds on the earth.  Britain will leave the EU of this we can be certain as this is a matter of Bible Prophecy.  In the Bible, God has long said (2,500 yrs ago to be exact) that Britain will not be a part of the European Union when Russia and the EU invade the Middle East.
