Putin quietly becomes longest serving Russian leader since Stalin

On Sept. 12, Vladimir Putin quietly passed a landmark date: He had spent 6,602 days as the top leader of Russia.
Although not widely acknowledged, this figure meant that Putin had spent more time in office than Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev, who ruled for 18 years and one month between 1964 and 1982 (6,601 days).
It also means that Putin is now the longest-serving Russian leader since Joseph Stalin, who led the Soviet Union for almost three decades between 1924 and 1953 — 10,636 days in total.
This may not be the sort of record the Kremlin is keen on publicizing. Although the Soviet era is often remembered fondly in Russia, Stalin and Brezhnev were clearly not democratic leaders. Putin is — at least in theory.
That makes his lengthy time in office more unusual.
During his time leading Russia, Putin has dealt with four U.S. presidents, as well as four British prime ministers and two German chancellors.
The Kremlin may also dispute the methodology, as Putin wasn’t president for all of his time in office. He first became prime minister of Russia on Aug. 16, 1999, before entering the presidential office May 7 the next year. Later, as the Russian Constitution limits the president to two consecutive terms, Putin stepped out of the Kremlin in 2008 while his prime minister, Dmitry Medvedev, became president.
However, most analysts agree that Putin still held the real power during that “tandem” presidency. He returned to the presidency in 2012.
Putin’s increasingly long time in office may not appear to be a problem to many Russians — as widely noted, his approval ratings remain extraordinarily high. He is widely expected to be nominated as a presidential candidate again for next year’s elections, according to reports in the Russian media.

MOSCOW — August 9 came and went in Russia without an official celebration. And yet, the date is significant. It marks the moment Vladimir Putin first came to power — 18 years ago.
Everyone, from his closest advisors at the Kremlin to independent political scientists, expects the Russian president to continue to heed his well-worn playbook. In recent weeks, we’ve been exposed to images of a bare-chested Putin fishing on holiday, apparently to counter rumors that he’s sick and tired. And on Aug. 8, he went to Abkhazia, wedged between Russia and Georgia and bordering the Black Sea, to celebrate the ninth anniversary of victory against Georgia in 2008. The visit was meant to stress that aspect of Putin that makes him so popular among Russians: his image as the “Gatherer of Russian Lands.”
He is seen as a leader who can stand up to the Americans, and who doesn’t hesitate to reclaim territory from countries that formerly belonged to the Soviet Union (Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia). It’s no coincidence that the date of Russia’s 2018 presidential election was recently moved so that it falls on the fourth anniversary of the annexation of Crimea.
Putin hasn’t officially declared his candidacy for the election as yet. But there’s no doubt he wants to be president until 2024. He will then be 72 years old, a little younger than Stalin, who was 73 when he died at the helm.

True Bible Students are not surprised at this and in fact Putin is exactly the type of leader we expect to see in Russia at the time of the end prior to Christ’s Return when he will intervene in the final conflict of man. So we fully expect to see him or someone just like him in power when Christ returns.
According to Bible Prophecy the Leader of Russia at the time of the End is called “Gog” ie. a chief one a strong and authoritarian ruler just like Putin. So if he stays in power for life he could well be the one that will bring Russia and Europe down into the Middle East in fulfilment of Bible Prophecy.
Putin is very much fitting the description of ‘Gog’ as all news articles today paint him as a leader to be feared, an Authoritarian Leader not to be messed with. Gog will develop a close relationship with the EU whereby Gog will become a “guard” unto the EU.
Gog is also spoken of militarily as the “King of the North”. Together the Bible says that Gog and the EU will invade the Middle East in the Last Days.
Yet again we see in Todays News Headlines words that show how the Nations are fulfilling the latter day alignment of Nations as Prophesied by the Bible.
