It is a real challenge to navigate through life. In our earlier years we are faced with decisions about education and careers. As we grow and circumstances change, we will need to make choices about where to live or work. Other decisions may have to be faced regarding relationships, finances and many others.

The most important decision we will ever make is whether or not to trust and obey God. This decision affects our life today and our prospects for the future. To those who choose to obey and trust, God promises everlasting life in His Kingdom.

God has given this choice to men and women right from the time of Adam and Eve. For example, as the people of Israel stood on the border of the Promised Land, Moses explained this same choice from God.

“See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil… therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.”

If they chose to obey, God would bless, and give them peace and prosperity in the Promised Land. If they did not, He would use their enemies and the natural environment to punish them. The people of Israel could never claim that they did not understand their options.

When Jesus preached the Gospel of the Kingdom of God, he too was faced with the same choice.

“Jesus began to show to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.”

Jesus could have avoided a cruel death by stopping his work and evading those who wanted to kill him. Instead he chose to obey God and carried on – “he steadfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem”.

Now we have to make the same choice – to trust and obey God, or not.

“Without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”

God promises to us eternal life in His perfect Kingdom if we choose obedience and trust as our life’s goal. Why would you choose anything else?
